Paying tribute to history, the red helmet will be worn, just once, for the final home game of the season against the New York Jets as the team will play its last regular-season game in Highmark Stadium before moving over to their new stadium in 2026.
Highmark Stadium first opened in 1973, making it the fourth oldest stadium in the NFL as of right now.
The helmet still reps the team's great logo created by Stevens Wright in 1974. But the red will be making its return for the first time since 2010.
Buffalo, which has been a team since 1960, introduced the red helmet in 1984, joining the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins (at the time), and Kansas City Chiefs as the only teams with a primary red helmet.
The team will also be repping the standing Buffalo helmets, their true originals, before the Wright logo was introduced.
They'll wear the classic helmets in Week 5 against the Falcons and Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
