Necas' new deal that begins next season will carry an average annual value of $11.5 million.
The 26-year-old was in the final year of a two-year, $13 million contract he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes before the 2024-2025 season.
Necas is coming off a season where he put up a total of 27 goals and 56 assists in 79 games.
The Hurricanes traded Nicas to the Avalanche during last season. He finished the season playing 30 games for the Avs, in which he scored 11 of his 27 total goals (and 17 assists) for the year.
Necas' six goals are currently the second-most on the team behind Nathan MacKinnon's nine, while his six assists are the fifth-most.
The former 12th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft made his league debut that same year, playing in just one game. He wouldn't put in a full season's worth of work until 2019-2020 when he scored 16 goals and assisted on 20 in 64 games.
Over the course of his career, Necas has racked up 131 goals and 208 assists in 452 games played. After joining the Avs last year via trade, Necas scored a goal and racked up four assists during their Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Dallas Stars, which they ultimately lost in seven games.
Now, the Avs are gearing up for another Stanley Cup run. They currently sit below the Utah Mammoth for the top spot in the Western Conference with a 6-1-4 record (16 points).
They're coming off an 8-4 win over the New Jersey Devils, effectively ending their eight-game win streak. The Avs' next game will be against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, October 31st.
