Across nine innings in his short time with Kansas City, Hill gave up five earned runs on nine hits while walking eight and striking out four.
The 45-year-old recently tied the MLB record in his first start for being on his 14th team. If Hill clears waivers, he has the decision to either accept his assignment to Triple-A or leave the Royals and test free agency and sign to who could end up becoming his record-setting 15th team.
Hill got his career started in 2005 with the Chicago Cubs for the first three years before becoming the league's journeyman. Including the Cubs, all the other teams Hill has played for include the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, then-Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, then-Oakland Athletics, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Angels, and now the Royals.
The lefty has a career 4.02 earned run average with a 90-76 record and 1,432 strikeouts in 1418.0 innings.
