The Tampa Bay Rays won two straight games coming into Monday, and behind another offensive breakout, they've clinched their place in the World Series and a date with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The American League Championship Series has been highly competitive through five games, but ahead of Game 6, the Tampa Bay Rays had two opportunities to close out the series, clinching their first World Series berth since the 2020 campaign, with the Cleveland Guardians hoping to fend off elimination.

For the second time in this series, the Rays got to send an ace to the mound, this time in Freddy Peralta to matchup with bullpen opener Shawn Armstrong, and once again, both were strong, with Armstrong finishing off 1 scoreless inning while it was Peralta this time that dominated, following impressive performances from Nick Martinez and Drew Rasmussen. Behind Peralta, it didn't take too long for the Rays to get on the board, as they scored early yet again, putting up two runs in the second inning on the back of a two-run double from Richie Palacios.

As they have done all post-season long, the Rays didn't take long to tack on, as they once again found the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, putting a deciding Game 7 further out of reach for the Cleveland Guardians.

This time, it was Jonny Deluca to deliver the goods, as he came up huge with a sacrifice fly to drive home Junior Caminero, giving the Rays a 3-0 lead behind arguably their best pitcher over the past two months.

The Guardians won't go down without a fight however, as the team came back from a 2-0 deficit in the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox, and in this game, their offense began in the top of the sixth inning.

Once again, it came through Chase Delauter and Nathaniel Lowe, as the latter singled in the former to get the Guardians on the board, and with the deficit cut to just 3-1, anything could happen down the stretch in this matchup.

Unfortunately for the Guardians, it was all Tampa Bay at home following this, and to the surprise of no one, it was their biggest star that once again came up huge, as Caminero doubled the lead with arguably the biggest swing of the series to date.

That came in the bottom of the 7th, launching one 346 feet to left field, coming off the foul pole as he sent the crowd at Tropicana Field into a frenzy, with a berth in the World Series now much, much closer.

With just six outs remaining, the Guardians now faced a potentially insurmountable deficit of 5-1, but as they've shown, this is a team that can score quickly, even against the best bullpens in baseball. In the top of the 8th, the Guardians quickly rallied behind some great plate appearances, once again beginning with Delauter.

Following the star outfielder, the Guardians had a single, two walks and a hit by pitch, and while they weren't able to tie the game up despite loading the bases, Cleveland managed to cut the lead down to just two, giving them a shot heading into the final frame. All that hard work however was completely undone by the Rays just moments later, as Yandy Diaz delivered, for the second time this series a clutch two-run home run that may have ultimately sealed Tampa Bay's fate in this series.

Now, with the series, and the season on the line for the Guardians, they had three outs left to conjour not one, not two, not three but at the very least four runs, and unfortunately for a Cleveland team that fought so hard, and a Cleveland fanbase so loyal, the team weren't able to fight back this time.

In the 9th, Bryan Baker closed things down 1-2-3, and as a result, the Guardians are headed home, and now, we have a matchup of the Milwaukee Brewers vs. the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series, meaning that one franchise will be hoisting the Commissioner's Trophy for the very first time.
