New Orleans Pelicans centre Zion Williamson will not be on the court for a period of time after the 25-year-old picked up a Grade 2 right adductor strain.

Williamson is confirmed to miss Tuesday night's game at home to the Minnesota Timberwolves with "right adductor soreness."

According to ESPN, the power forward will be re-evaluated three weeks from now.

Williamson's most recent match saw him score 25 points in a 104-96 loss against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. He then missed out on Sunday in another defeat, 133-121 to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Twice an All-Star, Williamson has an average of 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists despite playing just 10 of 21 games this season for the struggling Pelicans, who have just three wins on the year.

The former Duke Blue Devil was drafted first overall by New Orleans back in 2019. Since then, he has gone on to score 24.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 224 starts in the NBA.
