Cooks cleared waivers after being released by the New Orleans Saints upon request on Saturday, ultimately leading to becoming a free agent.
The 32-year-old signed a two-year, $13 million deal with the Saints in the offseason, a franchise he spent the first three years of his career with after they selected him 20th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.
He put up just 19 receptions for 165 yards in 10 games (three starts) this season. Buffalo, who's been dealing with wide receiver issues, will be bringing in a 12-year veteran who's racked up at least 1,000 yards in six seasons.
After leaving the Saints, he joined the New England Patriots for a year (2017), Los Angeles Rams for two years (2018-2019), Houston Texans for three (2020-2022), Dallas Cowboys for two (2023-2024), and now the Bills - putting a career 9,697 yards and 60 touchdowns through 168 games (147 starts).
Khalil Shakir leads the Bills in receiving with 564 yards on 54 receptions. The team's second leading receiver, Keon Coleman (34 receptions), has been sidelined the past two games as the Bills continue to discipline him for failing to show up to team meetings.
