Giroux, 38, will become the eighth active NHL player to reach 20 seasons, joining Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Brent Burns, Corey Perry, Ryan Suter, Kris Letang, and Evgeni Malkin.
The Ontario native is just 21 goals and 14 assists away from becoming the 16th player in league history to reach 400 goals and 800 assists.
Giroux spent the past four seasons with the Senators. He's coming off a year where he tied a career-low with 14 goals, yet made it back-to-back seasons with exactly 35 assists.
The vet has been the definition of durability as he missed just one regular season game in his time with the Senators. During his first season with the team, he set a career-high with 35 goals.
Now, Giroux looks to simply finish his career back home.
He spent the first 14-and-a-half years with the Philadelphia Flyers after the team selected him with the 22nd pick in the 2006 NHL Draft. Just four years later, Giroux helped the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Final, but eventually lost in six games to the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Flyers traded Giroux to the Florida Panthers during the 2021-2022 season, before he eventually signed with the Senators during the 2022 offseason.
