Hurricanes 6-3 Oilers
Zach Hyman's (27) second goal of the game in the late third period tried to rally the Oilers, but the Canes Jackson Blake (19) scored his second goal of the game along with an empty-netter by Jordan Staal (16) to put the game out of reach.
Carolina improved to 40-16-6, joining only the Avs as the only two teams with 40 wins so far this season. Meanwhile, the Oilers dropped to 20-25-8.
Avalanche 5-4 Stars
After going down 4-2, Colorado's Martin Necas (28) and Valeri Nichushkin (13) tied it up 4-4 to send the game into overtime. After neither side scored, it was the Avs who came out victorious from the shootout, with goals by none other than Necas and Nichuskin.
Colorado improved to an NHL-best 42-10-9, while the Stars' 10-game win streak ended as they fell to 38-14-10.
Ducks 6-5 Canadiens
After the Ducks took a 4-2 lead, Montreal scored three straight goals to go up by one with Cole Caufield (37) scoring two of the goals. But Chris Kreider (21) came in the clutch in the final minute of the third to send it to OT for the Ducks.
Following a scoreless OT, Cutter Gauthier and Alex Killorn scored for the Ducks to win the shootout as they improved to 35-24-3. The Ducks are now 8-0 this season in shootouts. Meanwhile, the Habs dropped to 33-18-10.
Panthers 3-1 Red Wings
Florida's Matthew Tkachuk scored all three goals for his team as he recorded his sixth-career hat trick. Florida improved to 31-29-3, while the Red Wings fell to 35-21-7.
Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky put up 28 saves.
Canucks 6-3 Blackhawks
After the Canucks took a 3-1 lead, the Blackhawks rallied back with two goals to tie it up entering the third period. But Vancouver's Brock Boeser (15) scored two of their three-straight goals in the third period en route to a win, effectively ending their seven-game skid.
Vancouver improved to 19-36-7 (worst in the NHL), while the Blackhawks fell to 23-29-10.
Blues 3-2 Sharks
The San Jose Sharks tied it up 2-2 to send it to overtime thanks to a third period goal from Kiefer Sherwood (19). But just 54 seconds into OT, Robert Thomas (15) scored his second goal of the game to give the Blues the W.
St. Louis improved to 24-29-9, while the Sharks fell to 30-25-5.
Wild 4-2 Golden Knights
The Wild scored three straight goals in the second period to give them the comfort room they needed to secure the win. Vegas tried to rally with a pair of goals from Pavel Dorofeyev (30) and Mitch Marner (18), but a goal from Minnesota's Vladimir Tarasenko (16) add some extra insurance.
Minnesota improved to 38-14-10, while the Knights fell to 29-20-14.
