FC Twente have confirmed the departure of midfielder Michel Vlap, who joins Qatari side Al Ahli with immediate effect.
Vlap has signed a three-year contract at Al Ahli, where he'll join Julian Draxler and former Southampton midfielder Ibrahima Diallo. Al Ahli reportedly paid €2 million for the 28-year-old Vlap.
In a club statement, Al Ahli, who finished fourth in last season's Qatari Super League, write that the signing of Vlap was "based on a technical vision based on the team's needs in the offensive aspect."
Vlap, who was being linked to a move to Russian giants Spartak Moscow earlier this summer, joined FC Twente in 2022 from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht. The offensive midfielder played a total of 162 games for FC Twente, in which he scored 20 goals.
