Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has spoken to the media as he prepares to face Bologna in the Europa League.
Villa are set for a first Europa League campaign since 2008 this week as they face a Bologna side who earned their place this year by lifting the Coppa Italia.
Waving goodbye to Monchi
Emery is sure to make changes for Aston Villa's Europa League opener after a severe lack of goals, as he first spoke on Monchi’s departure and Roberto Olabe arrival as president of football operations.
“We arrived three years ago with the project we did with the club. Monchi arrived six months after we arrived here. He was very good, but after two years he needed another chapter in his career.
“I am wishing him the best in his new chapter. We reacted quickly by bringing in one person I know personally. I have a lot of confidence with Roberto and he is coming to help us.”
"It is something progressively we were working on after speaking with Monchi. After the window finished, we spoke about it (him leaving). We decided with him and the club to do a normal transition. It changes nothing, only changing the man."
Emery is trying to correct Villa's dire form
Villa are sitting in the relegation zone after zero wins from five games, which have brought about a single goal so far. Emery next spoke on team meetings and how he and his side are trying to "correct" their mistakes behind the scenes.
"With the players I have meetings and we are speaking openly about how we want to build the team, tactically and with our demands. Tomorrow is very exciting to play in Europe and then we will speak again about the league with Fulham.
"I was frustrated, but it is normal. I recover so quick. My recovery is watching the game again and analysing things. We have to try to use experiences to correct things."
Emery's fury after Sunderland draw was "normal"
Emery was furious after drawing with newly promoted Sunderland at the weekend and ripped into his side in his post match press conference. Today he opened up on that anger, which he says is normal as he tries to turn disappointing Villa around.
"After the match I was angry because three points were important. I was frustrated and disappointed. When I analysed it, we played similar matches and won. After Sunday we identified clearly where we have to improve.
"I was frustrated, but it is normal. I recover so quick. My recovery is watching the game again and analysing things. We have to try to use experiences to correct things."
