The North Londoners know, however, that even at this late stage, should they slip up against either Burnley on Monday night or Crystal Palace in their final game of the campaign, Man City will almost certainly be there to take advantage, notwithstanding that Bournemouth in their penultimate game will be no pushovers.
Win puts Arsenal in the driving seat
Therefore, the match against the Clarets takes on huge importance for Mikel Arteta and his squad, as, should they win it, anything other than a City win against the Cherries will mean Arsenal will be champions.
The Gunners can certainly be comforted by the fact that they've only ever lost one Premier League game against Burnley, back in December 2020, having drawn four and won 14 of their previous fixtures against the team from Turf Moor.
Furthermore, Arsenal have won all 10 of their matches in the Premier League era against teams that have already been relegated, and Burnley have never scored more than once in their 19 meetings against the North Londoners, the most fixtures a team has played against a single opponent without scoring 2+ goals.
It's been 16 years since the Gunners last lost a top-flight game against a promoted side, too, and since that defeat to Newcastle in November 2010, the Gunners have won 39 of those games, and drawn the other five.
One win for Burnley in 27 league games
To give some perspective on just how poor a run Burnley have been on this season, they've only won once in their last 27 league games, losing 18 and drawing eight, meaning they've picked up just a point more than they did in their first 10 matches of the 25/26 season.
Only in 2014/15 (vs Aston Villa) and in 2019/20 (vs Norwich City) have they won their final away game in a Premier League season, too.
Given that Arsenal have lost just one final home game in the past 28 seasons (vs Aston Villa in 2010/11), it's going to be the tallest of orders for the Clarets to reverse those particular stats.
Not to mention that Arteta's side has kept a clean sheet in 16 games that they've won this season, winning seven of them 1-0 (only in 1998/99 did they win more (nine) by that scoreline).
Gyokeres could make history
Viktor Gyokeres has enjoyed a great scoring start to his Gunners career, even if his all-round game needs some work.
He's scored nine of his 14 Premier League goals at the Emirates Stadium, and if he bags another against Burnley, he'll enter a very select group.
Only Thierry Henry and Alexander Lacazette (both 11) and Olivier Giroud (10) have scored 10 or more goals at home in their debut season with the club.
Double... or nothing?
Last time out, the Gunners were the fortunate recipients of an injury-time VAR review, which denied West Ham the chance of earning a point in their fight for survival.
Leandro Trossard had scored the all-important goal, assisted by Martin Odegaard, who, on that occasion, was a substitute.
That's important to bear in mind, as over the course of their current campaign, substitutes have either scored or assisted 17 goals, which is the most in the top-flight this season.
In essence, this game is the first of three for the Gunners, which could define this group of individuals.
Win all three and Arsenal will have a first-ever Champions League title to sit alongside the Premier League, but emerge with no silverware at all, and the questions will once again come thick and fast as to the character and mentality of the squad.
Ben White is ruled out for the season, and Arteta will also be unable to call upon Mikel Merino. Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori face late fitness tests, but with both only rated as 25% likely to play any part in the game, it may be better all round for them to sit this one out.
For Burnley, Josh Cullen and Jordan Beyer are definitely out, with interim manager Mike Jackson making a late call on whether to include Hannibal Mejbri or not.
