Tottenham would be open to a Rodrygo approach if he is touted around the Premier League for January.

The Real Madrid forward was linked with Spurs last summer, but sources insist no firm contact ever took place.

He is still struggling for minutes at Madrid, and there is a possibility he will be made available in the new year.

At this stage, Spurs are drawing up their list of January targets, with an aim of establishing the options by the end of this month.

There are various other names that have been looked at, including the likes of Savinho and Ademola Lookman in the summer window.

They have been drawing up their winter transfer shopping list over the past two weeks - and while Rodrygo is not one they are to actively chase, sources say they will consider him if they are told he is available.

They do not want to waste time on players that are unattainable and feel that a situation like Rodrygo is a special case that they could react to if it arises.

In the summer, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool were all linked with Rodrygo too, and all did have varying degrees of interest.

Rodrygo came into this season with fears over his playing time, and they have been proven. He has started two games in La Liga and one in the Champions League.

Xabi Alonso has shown far more faith in both Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono when it comes to playing young stars.

As such, Rodrygo’s frustrations could lead to him pushing for a move in the next transfer window.

And if he fancies a switch to the Premier League, sources say Spurs will be willing to put themselves in position to make a proposal.
