FC Nordsjaelland could have eliminated Brondby IF in the fight for the bronze medals when the two clubs clashed on Friday night. They came very close to doing just that, thanks to the goal that Ghanaian striker Prince Amoako scored after 60 minutes, even though they had striker Alexander Lind sent off five minutes before the interval.
However, Marko Divkovic equalized shortly before the end as the home side preserved a very slim chance of claiming third spot.
The match was short on action and chances at either end in the majority of the first half, but the spectators were finally handed a bit of drama after 40 minutes when Nordsjaelland striker Alexander Lind somewhat clumsily tripped Luis Binks and was given a straight red card.
As expected, Brondby dominated possession in the second half; however, without being able to make the most of their one-man advantage. And instead Prince Amoako again gave evidence of his striker-qualities when he escaped his marker outside the box to curl the ball into the far corner beyond the reach of Brondby keeper Patrick Pentz.
Slowly afterwards, Pentz was called into action again when he managed to keep out an attempt from Juho Lähteenmäki after Amoako had struck the post. The visitors looked headed for an unlikely when FC Nordsjaelland keeper Andreas Hansen, with just a minute remaining, mistimed his intervention on Mario Divkovic's finish to allow the hosts to claim at least a point.
