FC Copenhagen's William Clem scored the match-winning goal on Sunday afternoon with a sensational long-range curling effort to settle a heated derby between the two bitter rivals and allow Bo Svensson's outfit to recapture top spot in the Danish Superliga.

FC Copenhagen were the better side for the vast majority of the derby, winning 1-0 thanks to a superb long-range goal from William Clem.

The victory puts FC Copenhagen one point ahead of FC Midtjylland and into first place in the Danish Superliga. However, FC Midtjylland have played one game less. Brøndby, currently in fourth, now risk being overtaken by FC Nordsjaelland.

After a somewhat shaky start to the match, it was FC Copenhagen who showed the greater willingness to commit to the many physical duels, while also demonstrating superior ability with the ball at their feet.

The home side dominated almost every aspect of the first half, with Brondby’s young attacking trio—Filip Bundgaard, Olti Hyseni, and Jacob Ambaek—completely neutralized by the home side’s defensive line.

The visitors primarily attempted to play long balls toward Birger Meling’s flank, but these efforts came to nothing. While the atmosphere in the stands was intense from the opening whistle, the quality of play on the pitch was, for the most part, underwhelming. Especially from the visitors' side.

Mohamed Elyounoussi was the standout performer, orchestrating much of the play for the home side. Although FC Copenhagen began to create major chances on a handful of occasions before the break, a Brøndby player intervened at the last moment every single time.

Several chances also arose due to Brøndby’s poor ball retention, but the visitors got off lightly, reaching halftime with the score at 0–0. After the break, Brondby continued to make too many errors in dangerous areas of the pitch. Ten minutes in, one of these proved costly.

Olti Hyseni lost the ball to William Clem while attempting a risky dribble on the edge of his own penalty area. The defensive midfielder pulled back his left foot and hammered the ball into the far corner—a true wonder goal from Clem.

It wasn't until the hour mark that Brøndby began to string some attacking play together, but Diant Ramaj—in the FCK goal—had a very quiet afternoon.  Only in the final minutes did the visitors manage to exert any real pressure, which the home side withstood with relative ease.
