De Busser joined AZ in the summer after becoming a club hero at Go Ahead Eagles, with whom he won the KNVB Beker in 2025. AZ led the Eredivisie before PSV overtook them last weekend, and De Busser played a big role with some stellar saves.

21-year-old Club Brugge full-back Kyriani Sabbe also debuts for the Red Devils, having started six of Club Brugge's seven games this season. A debut was also given to RB Leipzig goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, who's kept three clean sheets in five games this season.
Van Bommel also opted to bring back Parma midfielder Mandela Keita, who last played for Belgium in October 2023 and sat on the bench against Montenegro in June 2024.
World Cup goers Alexis Saelemaekers, Thomas Meunier, and Axel Witsel were left out of the squad, with Witsel retiring from international duty earlier this week.
Belgium, who were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in the quarter-finals by Spain, open their UEFA Nations League against Italy on September 25th, with meetings with France (28-09 & 05-10) and Turkey (02-10) to follow in Group 1.
