Rune will make his long-awaited comeback on the tennis court in May when he takes part in the Hamburg Open. The tournament confirms the news on their website.
"The hard work starts in Hamburg. I can't wait to be back on the clay at the Hamburg Open and to finally feel the atmosphere again after such a long break", says Rune to the tournament's website.
Rune suffered the injury in October when he tore his Achilles tendon and was reported out for 6-12 months.
The Rune camp has previously teased that Rune's comeback could happen before long.
"His recovery is on track - understood in the sense that Holger generates the strength he needs at a pace that suits the development curve he has followed. He is down to only a six percent difference in strength (in his legs, ed.), which is quite unique", Aneke Rune told TV 2 Sport earlier in April.
At the time, Aneke Rune also said that Rune probably already would have made his comeback if he had participated in a team sport.
