The San Francisco Giants traded relief pitcher Erik Miller to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for second baseman Marcelo Mayer.

Miller, 28, was one of the most sought-after relief pitchers at the deadline. He's tossing a 2.76 ERA through 38 games with 45 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.

The lefty is another big addition for the Sox, who traded for Baltimore Orioles three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman earlier in the day (details here).

Mayer, 22, is slashing .220/.282/.312 with three home runs, 22 RBI, and three stolen bases in 70 games during his second year. He'll be the replacement for Luis Arraez, who the Giants traded to the Philadelphia Phillies (details here).
