Harry Maguire is reportedly set to miss out on a place in Thomas Tuchel's final England World Cup squad, leaving the Manchester United defender 'shocked' and 'gutted'.

The 33-year-old has been a key player for his nation since the 2018 World Cup, but was left out of the EURO 2024 squad, which saw England reach the final.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs and Talksport's Alex Crook, Maguire is now set to again be a surprise exclusion from this summer’s England squad.

It’s understood that the centre back is ‘shocked’ by Tuchel’s decision not to take him following an impressive season at club level.

Maguire has reestablished himself as a key figure for Man United under Michael Carrick, starting 18 of his 22 Premier League appearances.

"I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision," he said on social media.

"I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years.

"I wish the players, all the best this summer"

The England squad will be announced in full on Friday.
